Treatment Procedure
Although there can be exceptions, there is a standard sequence of visits for orthodontic treatment that may be helpful for you to know in advance.

First Visit (Evaluation)
The initial visit will include an examination of the patient, an evaluation for orthodontic treatment and determination of the best time to proceed.

Second Visit (Records)
Photographs, x-rays and impressions for study models are taken. These diagnostic records are carefully examined, and a specific treatment plan determined.

Third Visit (Consultation)
Diagnosis and recommended treatment, including estimated treatment time, will be discussed. Financial arrangements will be set up at this time.

Orthodontic Considerations:
The result of orthodontic treatment depends on tissue response to treatment, habits, muscle changes, and the cooperation of the patient as well as the skill of the orthodontist. Patient cooperation on the following areas enhance treatment.

         • THREE MINUTE BRUSHING AM AND PM TO DISRUPT PLAQUE AND STIMULATE GUM TISSUE

         • QUICK BRUSHING AFTER EACH MEAL TO REMOVE FOOD DEBRIS

         • FLUORIDE RINSE NIGHTLY; IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO BED

         •  WEARING OF RUBBER BAND ELASTICS AND HEADGEAR AS PRESCRIBED

         • ABSTINENCE FROM STICKY CANDY AND UNUSUALLY HARD FOODS (PARTICULARLY ICE)

         • IMMEDIATE REPORTING OF BREAKAGE OF APPLIANCES

         •  KEEPING APPOINTMENTS AT THE TIME INTERVALS PLANNED
